We live on the land, grow the fruit, make the wine, and have fun doing it! Small and unique, St Josef’s has produced premium, handcrafted wines since 1983. Because we are family owned and operated, we make the wines the way we like them. Our goal is food-friendly wines that can enhance any meal without breaking the bank; as well as a line of reserve wines to enjoy on special occasions (like Tuesdays).
Owner/Winemaker Josef and family oversee each harvest, fermentation, every barrel tasting and even each bottling. It is this ‘hands-on’ dedication that has earned St Josef’s over 400 awards and accolades. Including Gold Medals in prestigious contests on both coasts – the NYC Wine Show and the National Orange Competition in LA.
Food Friendly wines
We believe that wine is one of the pleasures of life and everyone should be able to enjoy a glass of good wine with their meals everyday! “Food friendly” means that the wines enhance the experience of the food, not overwhelm it. Our wines enjoy the warm days and cool nights in the Willamette Valley producing the bracing acidity that is nimble with food. Foodies everywhere are searching for these fresh vibrant wines and you will find St JOSEF’S listed on many ‘best buy’ and ‘best value’ lists. More info on St. Josef’s Wine Club.
We have 5 vineyards spread over 50 acres, producing both classic red and food-friendly white wines. Our vineyards are maintained without the use of irrigation, harsh chemicals or fertilizers. For our stewardship of the land we have received both ‘Salmon Safe’ and LIVE certification awards. We hand harvest and hand select our fruit – because we are small and family oriented, we expect each vintage to have special character. And with our natural hands-off winemaking style we focus on producing only limited quantities of each release. This level of detail along with our sustainability provides us a canvas to create a better bottle of wine – food friendly, with subtle upfront fruit and long finishes. And we are always striving to make the next vintage the best one yet. To learn about our sustainability, read more here.
White wines grown in our vineyards include, Pinot Gris (or in Italy – Pinot Grigio), Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer, and Riesling. Our 30 year old vines produce grapes with character and vibrancy. Our old vines are “in demand” and we are very proud to sell our fruit to several other award-winning wineries in the Willamette Valley.
For Red Wine lovers we grow & estate bottle Pinot Noir (Oregon’s Most Famous Varietal), Syrah and Merlot. We also produce big Cabernets and Merlots with fruit sourced from our friends at Layne Vineyard.
